Born in 1999 in Härnösand, Sweden.
Lives and works in Cairo, Egypt.
In Malin Juntikka’s practise she narrates social realism. She narrates conflicts in social phenomena and presents them as stories or critiques.
She asks herself the question: how can I compose the image to maximize the narrative power of the social scene? She wants the image to obey the social scene more than the setting itself. To do that she needs to interfere with the setting. The setting is simple but sufficiently informative for comprehension.
She wants her images to have an informative and direct function. She wants the audience to immediately understand what is displayed. She wishes for the audience to reach a larger collective comprehension. The function of the texts is to give support for dialogs. But the texts are not necessary to take part of. The image alone is sufficient for comprehension. The idea is to create images that are accessible to the masses.
